HOW YOU CAN HELP.

The Gilbert Kiwanis Club has several ongoing annual projects all related to the Gilbert School District.  We are looking for help that is both rewarding and fun with these projects.

  1. Annual Backpack Program -  At the start of each school year, our club puts together backpacks for the Title I schools in the Gilbert School District. The number can vary from year to year but generally, we donate about 400 backpacks each year.

  2. Monthly Student of the Month (Pending COVID) - Our Club, in partnership with Gilbert School District, recognizes a student at couple of the Title I schools each month during the school year for values decided on by the schools. In recognition of the student, our club donates either a bicycle or tablet to the student of the month.

  3. During COVID, we've improvised.  We've pivoted to donating money to help schools fund things they needed to aid in virtual learning.

  4. Christmas Holiday Project - During the Christmas Holidays, our club donates $3,000 to $5,000 in gift cards from Wal-Mart in partnership with the Gilbert School District and their Social Workers. The schools identify the families needing the most assistance and distribute the gift cards we supply.

  5. Salvation Army - At Christmas time, we partner with the Chandler Salvation Army office to assist in counting and tabulating kettle donations during the holidays.

  6. Big Brothers Big Sisters Clothing Bins - We partnered with Big Brother Big Sisters and the Gilbert School District to place clothing bins at all the schools in the school district. This is our main fundraiser. Big Brothers Big Sisters pays us a percentage for the collected items each quarter. We in turn use those funds to our major projects throughout the year. We also give back a small percentage directly to each school for promotion.

  7.  Ronald McDonald Meal Preparation (Pending COVID) - Our Club will get together once a quarter to make dinner at the Mesa, AZ Ronald McDonald House. The members of our club personally provide all the food to be prepared on-site. It's an opportunity to see and visit with children and their families having to go through treatments at the hospital next door.

As a member, you can bring your expertise, willingness to serve others, and your enthusiasm to help grow our Club and thus grow the opportunities for us to provide yet to be imagined supports for the children in our Community!
